Our assessors have found that they are able to complete the qualification sooner with the learner without losing any of the quality. The assessors are notified as soon as the learner has completed an assessment, and they are able to give feedback straight away rather than have to wait until the next face-to-face visit. We are able to complete the NVQ on average in 3 months* rather than the 5-6 months that it previously took. OneFile also makes it easier for assessors to view the portfolio holistically as, at all stages, all of the units and qualifications are viewed so it is easier for them to remember to reference the same assessment to different units.

The assessors have also been able to take on extra learners because they are not spending as much time visiting the learners. Assessors used to be able to deal with a workload of 35 learners and now their caseload is 60.
We have found financial savings in numerous areas – the number of visits required for each learner, courier costs when it is time for external verification, photocopying costs. Also, assessors, internal verifiers and administrators are able to use their time more effectively, which in turn allows the learners to complete sooner.

As a manager of a sector, I have found that OneFile is not even comparable to paper portfolios due to the report writing facility on the system. At a push of a button I can see the progress of all the learners and the productivity of my assessors. This means that we can identify any potential issues a lot sooner and, also, the assessors are not having to spend time on administrative issues.
Our external verifier was very pleased with OneFile. She was able to complete her sampling remotely before even visiting the centre. This meant that when she did visit, her time spent was a lot more constructively and supportively rather than her having to spend time looking through portfolios.
