"E" vs. "Paper" Portfolio
When choosing an e-Portfolio, my colleagues and I looked at four different systems and felt that OneFile was the easiest to follow. It was also the closest match to our paper-based portfolios in terms of layout and structure.
In comparing OneFile to a paper-based portfolio, we found that the whole process is much quicker. We are now able to achieve completions in half the time. For the assessor, time is saved with cross-referencing the criteria, and there is no wasted time visiting learners who have 'forgotten their portfolio', as happened frequently when it was paper based.
Robert Wiseman has depots all over the UK and, as an internal verifier, I used to waste a lot of my time in travelling. I am now able to verify remotely and track what is happening with a lot more ease.
Experience
We have had an excellent experience using OneFile. There were some queries at the beginning, but the support was there, and if we requested any changes, they were discussed and, where possible, implemented into the e-Portfolio.
We have found OneFile a very easy-to-use system. We are completing the NVQs with learners in half the time than when we did it on paper, which means that our retention levels are also much higher.
We are saving money too - the assessors are able to assess and support the learners' progress remotely, and verifiers are not having to travel long distances on such a regular basis. We are able to work more efficiently.
The report-writing feature inside OneFile means you are able to effectively monitor what is happening in the centre, and this has been of great value as a management tool.
We have recommended OneFile to many other centres and have demonstrated it to our contractors. The LSC were amazed at how easy it is to use.
We have found OneFile to be one hundred per cent first class!
